With the worldwide uprising of fascism and neo nazism, anti-trans movements, implemented or about-to-come prohibitions of abortions, the attempts of state and coops to “eradicate” and repress various radical political movements and with the (once) rainbow capital Berlin, where nowadays the rights and lives of the queer individuals have been transformed in commodities to be commercialized and sold, resistance is more relevant than ever.
In addition, more than two years of pandemic and lockdowns, the economical crisis (which affect as usual mainly the existences of the people already discriminated and whom are struggling to survive), flames of a possible world war, the social atomism among the individuals and last but not least the evictions of our spaces, the increasing repression of the queers who do not satisfy the criteria of (rainbow) capitalism, being white, european, ideally cis, and belonging or coming from the middle class urged us to organise a loud rally – as a meeting and networking place for fellow anarchist queers.
Remembering of the original CSO* and coming together to discuss about perspectives on the today (but not only here and now), network, exchange and find common grounds to organize and radicalize with like minded anarchist antiauthoritarian queer peeps. Issues like the war, the relationships and intimacy in the queer left scene from an anarchist perspective, increasing anti-trans attitudes, increasing visibility of inter* people and their struggles, segmentation of the queer scene in Berlin and the need to build trust in the community have been now in our minds, more than ever and we have the need to wrap our mind around that with others.
That’s why, as for the last 3 years, we are organising the next ACSD for the 17th of July and we would like to invite you once again to come in solidarity with us and to support us during the organisation process. We are meeting every Monday at 19.00 in front of the main entrance of New Yorck in Bethanien.
We would like to invite and meet again anarchist queer people, no matter how do they identify and assert themselves. We aim to provide a safer and a braver space for all of us queers and freaks who often feel we do not belong to the every day of Berlin and who are furthermore been marginalized and discriminated (and for sure not represented by the mainstream politics – not that we wanted it). National, ethnic and religious background and body (dis)ability do matter in a society where they determine how humanely and respectfully we are treated. Nevertheless, this must not be an obstacle to organise an emancipatory movement based on our common grounds, with all the conflicts and contradictions that might come along.
Let’s come together for a common, intersectional and borderless anticolonial struggle against state(s), elites and governments.
* CSD stands for Christopher Street Day, which dates back to a spontaneous uprising by a group of queer black people and people of color, sex workers and trans people with their friends on 28 June 1969 to resist racist and anti-homo/trans attacks by the police. This was followed by a three-day riot on Christopher Street in New York, with people uniting and taking to the streets in many places.
